Where are you based? How did you end up there?
I’m based in Natick, MA. I was introduced to Boston Business Women by Susan Trotter as a way to connect with other women business owners in the Boston area.
Tell us more about your company! What do you do and what pushed you to start?
I’m a clinical social worker and private practice therapist, helping clients navigate life’s challenges with personalized care. My inspiration comes from growing up in Bulgaria, witnessing substance abuse in my family, and wanting to provide guidance to others facing difficult circumstances.
After earning my Master of Social Work from Boston College, I worked with adults in inpatient, residential, and partial hospital programs at North Shore Medical Center and McLean Hospital. For the past six years, I’ve run my private practice, supporting clients from early-career women to empty-nesters. My work focuses on stressful life transitions, challenging relationships, depression and self-esteem issues, anxiety, and perfectionism.
I also volunteer with P.E.O., an international nonprofit empowering women academically and professionally, combining my passions for social work and supporting women’s growth.
What is your definition of success? How do you know when you’ve reached it?
Success is waking up excited about the day ahead, feeling in control of my schedule, and knowing when to say “yes” or “no.” It’s also hearing from clients about the positive impact of our work and knowing I’ve given them the tools to live a fulfilling life.
What was one of your biggest challenges in business?
Taking extended time off after having my son in Fall 2019, temporarily closing my practice, and leaving a job I loved in a psychiatric hospital. Ironically, the pandemic pushed me to reopen my practice and showed me how much I love the freedom of running my own business and working with clients who are a perfect fit.
