Where are you based? How did you end up there?
Littleton, MA. I love the Boston area, and when we had children, we wanted more space than the city could provide.
Tell us more about your company! What do you do and what pushed you to start?
I have over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist in private practice and a long history as a writer and columnist. My first book, Topic of Cancer: Riding the Waves of the Big C, was inspired during my breast cancer treatment and won six literary awards. My second book, Who Will Accompany You? My Mother-Daughter Journeys Far From Home and Close to the Heart, won ten literary awards.
I also practice live storytelling with Fugitive Productions and focus on speaking engagements about Telling Our Truths: Where Everybody Wins. My work is driven by a desire to uplift others through stories, writing, and psychotherapy.
How have you grown personally and professionally due to your business?
I’ve learned that there are no limits to how I can serve others while enjoying life. Through writing, speaking, and my private practice, I continue to marvel at human resilience and creativity, gaining perspective and joy from connecting with others worldwide.
Definition of Success:
Success means making a meaningful difference, feeling connected, enjoying what I do, being financially stable, and having the freedom to return to center when life derails. It’s about being free to enjoy multiple aspects of life.
Most Transformational Moment as an Entrepreneur:
When my first book won an award while I was in Bhutan with my daughter, it forced me to take myself seriously as a writer and recognize the broader impact of my words.
Biggest Challenge in Business:
Balancing multiple passions has been challenging. I scale back psychotherapy hours to devote time to writing, speaking, storytelling, and personal pursuits like biking, hiking, singing, and family life.
Impact of Boston Business Women Inner Circle:
BBWIC has provided encouragement, persistence, and a supportive community. It reinforced that relying on others is not a weakness, but a source of strength, respect, and joy.
Most Proud Moment in Career:
Directing a psychiatric halfway house and creating a next-step apartment for clients, ensuring the right level of support for their growth. In writing, winning Best First Book from the Independent Book Publishers Association was particularly meaningful.
About the Woman Behind the Business:
I love biking, hiking (including around Mt. Blanc), swimming, walking my dogs, cooking, Zumba, and singing with my Encore group. I enjoy music, theater, and dance outings with my family. I value physical activity, creativity, and sharing meaningful experiences with others.
What Makes You Stand Out:
I help people articulate what’s hard to express, balancing seriousness with humor. My storytelling blends information and entertainment, making me accessible as both a psychotherapist and a writer.
Where to Keep Up With Meg:
I post blogs on my website and share content on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
