How long have you been a Boston Business Women member?

4 years

Where are you based? How did you end up there?

Oakland, CA. I am exactly where Spirit led me. Knowing my business and personal life would thrive more here. I am much happier here in Northern California. The Bay Area has so many amazing black artists who need a safe space to call home.

Tell us more about your company! What do you do and what pushed you to start?

We create safe spaces for you to elevate spiritually, emotionally, and physically through creativity.

Open mic nights, journal meditation, dance classes, recording studio, paint nights, and yoga classes are all included in this cultural arts center. I lovingly call it a wellness studio.

A home for artists, neurodivergent people, and anyone seeking meditation and self healing is our mission. We started in Atlanta, GA as it is black Hollywood and a hub for black entrepreneurship. I knew I had to leave Boston to succeed in my work/mission.

Eternity performed in Boston for 11 years as a spoken-word artist. She hosted and featured at open mics virtually during the pandemic. She was excited to perform live again once things opened back up!

Eternity received the recognition she deserved after her first performance in Atlanta in October of 2021. ATL & Cali were the top 2 places Spirit led her to. Her desire to move to Cali was placed on her heart at the age of 19 to succeed as a performing artist. ATL spoke to Eternity at about 26 years old. She made it happen during the pandemic!

What pushed me is not being happy and struggling to make ends meet in the Boston area. I was taking care of myself and family. Being unhappy and hurt was unacceptable. I started therapy at 25. I made some changes and cut off some people. I started standing up for myself more.

My biological family drained all of my energy. I was very neglected, misunderstood, emotionally abused, and depressed. I was giving to them too much. I was not accepted for who I truly am and that was more important to me than trying to fit in with them. I no longer wanted to fit in. I knew I was meant to stand out! I honestly knew that as a child, but as a child, you try to fit in anyway. That only did a disservice.

I needed an emotionally safe space to heal and thrive. Creating and performing has always been my outlet since I was about 5 years old. Creating that space for others brings me such joy and purpose. That is what Eternal Wellness Studios is - a safe space for people to be their authentic self.

I am thankful for the people who created safe spaces for me in the past to grow as an artist. The calling on my life is to create emotionally safe spaces for artists as well. The feedback I received in Boston, Atlanta, and now here in the Bay Area is appreciated.

I first wrote my business plan in 2020 during a difficult time in my personal life. I knew I was going to make my goals happen. I was more than ready to leave Boston. I have revised my plan a few times, and worked with amazing business coaches since then. I registered my LLC in ATL in January of 2022. We are now branching out here in the Bay! It has not been easy for our startup. Eternity had to heal from a couple of accidents. However, I am determined. I am waking in my destiny.

I am Eternity - founder of Eternal Wellness Studios.

What is your definition of success? How do you know when you’ve reached it?

Success is being at peace with you are and what you have done in this life. I believe one has succeeded when they can look in the mirror and be proud of the person staring back. When you can know that if you perish tomorrow, you affected people in a positive way. That’s what I believe.

I am not like most people. I am proud to be authentically me. Being your most authentic self is the key in this life.

Tell us about your most transformational moment as an entrepreneur?

Being able to help others by sharing my story in my books and on stages. Honestly, teaching people the power they have within to change their lives for the better.

What was one of your biggest challenges in business?

Lack of support and funds. I have done a lot of work for free, as helping people has always been the calling on my life. I also had some people who don’t believe in my vision. I had people betray me in business and in personal relationships. Some people have been very mean to me and some are selfish in business. That’s just reality.

I had to cut off negative energies a lot these past 4 years. When I got injured more than once in Atlanta, I knew who I could really count on to help me. It was extremely difficult and life changing. I survived and overcame a lot of trauma. My health was and still is my priority.

I learned that it is okay because I recognize people project their feelings on to me. My vision is for me to see. I was reminded when I was down to focus more on the people who do support me. I am forever grateful for my supporters, fans, and my amazing circle of friends/soul family.

I also give thanks that I was self-aware enough to keep fighting to make my dreams come true. I am thankful for the people who helped save my life. I am thankful for the relationships I have built over the past 15 years. Sincerely.

How do you handle the harder days? The struggles? Those moments when you feel like giving up?

I meditate by the water, journal, listen to music, get outside in nature, and I honor my true feelings. I cry if I need to, scream, exercise, and read. I also call on the ones I can trust with my soul. My soul family is always only a phone call away and have been my rock. Writing truly is healing and always been my go-to. As I wrote in my fourth book, writing saved my life.

How has being a Boston Business Women Inner Circle member positively influenced your life + business?

I have been very inspired by the women who share their stories and business accomplishments. It is encouraging and I value honesty most in all relationships. So, I appreciate the women who have been honest about their struggles and wins.

Tell us about your most proud moment in your career.

The most proud moment is when someone (more than twice my age) telling me that I inspired them to go after their dreams! He relocated to the Bay Area from southern California after hearing my story/seeing me perform spoken-word. That truly brought me to tears.

My business coach in ATL told me to make sure my business is needed here in our last virtual meeting. The feedback I received when I started performing (and announced my business plans here) in Oakland was the confirmation I needed.

Relocating to the Bay Area from Atlanta, GA ON MY OWN while disabled! Spirit said ``go and I will open doors for you!`` I obeyed and there was such a deep peace within my heart when I got to California. It was by no means easy on my body, but I knew it would be worth it.

I did A LOT of research before leaving GA. I looked into companies that provided some of the services Eternal Wellness Studios does. I became an independent Teaching Artist in August of 2023 in the Bay Area with a nonprofit organization in alignment with me. I work part-time as my body is still healing from a traumatic car accident in Nov. of 2022.

Lastly, I am most proud of self-publishing 5 books in under 3 years! They are all my true lived experiences to help others in their journey.

Working in my purpose is the only thing that works for me.

Who is the woman behind your business? What does she like? How does she spend her free time? What does she value?

Eternity loves music, writing, walks in nature, dancing, reading, and meditation. Eternity is a creator through and through. She is inspired by other talented creators and attends open mic shows here and there. Performing is fun and healing for her.

In her free time, Eternity enjoys watching movies alone, enjoying a good meal, and being in solitude. She is in a long distance relationship with her dearest friends/family so she does spend some time chatting on the phone with her people when possible. A meal or walk with a friend from time to time is nice too!

Eternity values honesty, open/direct communication, and kindness.

What makes you stand out from others in your field? What do you do differently?

I am vulnerable, direct, and authentically me in person and online. Most people aren't as open about their lives as I am. Most people aren't even honest with themselves or loved ones. A lot of people are not self-aware. I have learned that people think how I live my life is brave.

I am fearless! That is why I named my open mic shows ``Fearless Fridays.`` I truly move by faith and not fear in my career and personal life. I do keep certain aspects of my personal life private and that is for protection.

I moved away from everyone I knew without hesitation. The purpose on my life is far too great to stay stagnant or deny parts of my identity. I used to live seeking the approval of people (biological family included). I no longer do that and it has freed me!

My inner child is happy and healing. I am very intentional with everything I do. My light shines brighter now and I share it with the world. I attracted more soul family - my real ones. I care more about creating my family and being true to myself. There is no other Eternity. No one can fill my shoes, that's my job.
