How long have you been a Boston Business Women member?

2 weeks

Where are you based? How did you end up there?

Needham. It's where I grew up, and my parents were still here when we were looking for our forever home. Because of the crazy market, we first lived with my parents to save up, thinking it would be a 1 year stay. Well, two and a half years and another baby later, we found our forever home. I know not everyone could live with their parents (and grandmother!), but for my family, it was a blessing. We had 4 generations under one roof, I had the matriarchal support of my mother and grandmother, and my father and husband had each other for company. My daughter and son were so fortunate to be surrounded by FIVE caring adults during their early years.

Tell us more about your company! What do you do and what pushed you to start?

I just got so fed up with lack of accurate information about perimenopause and menopause. Did you know there are 6 phases?! I sure didn't until I got into this work. Too often, women are made to feel like their only choice is to take hormones or do nothing and suffer silently. C'mon! We can do better!

I am an educator at heart, so when I learn something, I tend to do a deep dive, geek out, and then figure out how to best share the information in a way that is accessible and actionable. That's exactly what I do with my clients. I figure out their knowledge gaps, fill them, and then help them decide what to do with the info based on the results they want.

My hope is for all women to understand how their bodies after 40 are different, to know what their bodies need to stay healthy, and to choose what levers to pull for their unique needs.

What is your definition of success? How do you know when you’ve reached it?

I feel most successful when my life is balanced. For me, that means I feel good physically, emotionally, and spiritually; I enjoy working in and for my business; I'm intellectually challenged; after rest, I feel rejuvenated; my marriage is fulfilling; my kids are happy; I'm connected to and spending time with the women who are dearest to me.

Tell us about your most transformational moment as an entrepreneur?

When I really invested in myself as a business owner instead of trying to figure everything out on my own! I had been trying a program here and a membership there, but when I purchased first a 3-month and then a 12-month program with the same coaches, I really started to own my identity as an entrepreneur.

What was one of your biggest challenges in business?

Shifting my view of my business from it being a hobby that made money to being an income-earning business.

How do you handle the harder days? The struggles? Those moments when you feel like giving up?

I get support. My husband, my mom, my friends, my therapist, and my coaches are all essential to keeping me positive and moving forwards.

How has being a Boston Business Women Inner Circle member positively influenced your life + business?

As a 2 week old member, I'm just beginning to see the possibilities. I was a lurker in the main FB group for a few years, and would occasionally comment or be recommended in a comment. Since being a member and posting once, my FB group grew by 50 women! I've signed up for a few of the upcoming events, and I'm excited to network with other members.

Tell us about your most proud moment in your career.

For myself, it was getting board-certified. It's a hard exam, the kind you walk out of not really sure of how it went.

But one of the best things about my job is the pride I feel when my clients reach a goal or milestone that feels important to them, that they've been working towards steadily. That is a pride I get to feel every single week.

Who is the woman behind your business? What does she like? How does she spend her free time? What does she value?

I value my time and how I choose to spend it. My love language is quality time, so giving my time to others and receiving theirs just fills me up!

I love reading fiction, and if I don't have a book that I'm working through, then I'm not as happy. Fiction allows me to escape, to experience places and people outside of my geographical circle, and to sink into a story.

Playing tennis and platform tennis are my stress relievers. I've always loved any game with a ball (just like a dog!), and these two sports help me get out my competitiveness in a healthy environment instead of bringing it to family board game night.

What makes you stand out from others in your field? What do you do differently?

Two things: first, my expertise and experience as an educator allow me to individualize and personalize my coaching programs so that women get the results they want.

And second, my unique process for helping women take action once they've tapped into my deep well of midlife body knowledge. As I always say, knowledge is great, but you need action based on that knowledge to get your results!

Where can we keep up with you? What social media platforms do you use the most?

Instagram
