Where are you based? How did you end up there?
I’m on the South Shore. I was born and raised in South Weymouth and currently raising my family in the house I grew up in. I have a studio called The Captured Collection located in Norwell.
Tell us more about your company! What do you do and what pushed you to start?
After nurturing an entrepreneurial spark for years, I finally took the leap and brought Meri Lee Photography to life. With a focus on newborn, maternity, and family portraits, I aim to capture the essence of a family’s love and the joy of new beginnings.
As a mother of five, connecting with my clients comes naturally, whether they’re embarking on the journey of parenthood or cherishing moments with their growing families.
Operating my own business is not just about pursuing my passion; it’s also about setting an example for my children. I want them to understand the power of determination and the fulfillment that comes from chasing your dreams.
As 2024 unfolds, I’ve sensed a new calling—to tap into brand photography and assist fellow entrepreneurs in showcasing their ventures. It’s a thrilling evolution for Meri Lee Photography, allowing me to support others in crafting their stories and elevating their brands.
Every click of the shutter is a testament to the belief that with dedication and perseverance, anything is possible. I’m reminded daily of the blessings that come from doing what you love and creating lasting memories for families far and wide.
What is your definition of success? How do you know when you’ve reached it?
My definition of success is having happy clients and knowing the moments I’ve captured will be cherished for a lifetime! Every time I have a client who leaves a good review or refers me to someone new, I feel I’ve succeeded.
Tell us about your most transformational moment as an entrepreneur.
A pivotal moment since embarking on my entrepreneurial journey occurred while I was out with my family. A stranger approached us, recognizing me from their friend’s newborn session I had photographed. Learning that they had been following my work since the inception of my business filled me with an overwhelming sense of validation and joy.
It was a simple yet profound instance of someone I hadn’t personally met acknowledging the impact of my photography. That moment ignited a fire within me, reaffirming my passion and commitment to creating meaningful connections through my art.
What was one of your biggest challenges in business?
The biggest challenge I’ve encountered is finding home and work life balance. As a mom of five, learning to juggle starting a business after staying home for nine years was a huge adjustment.
How has being a Boston Business Women Inner Circle member positively influenced your life and business?
It was the best decision I made joining BBW as an Inner Circle member! I’ve connected with many members who have helped and supported me. I joined the 6 Figure Academy, and it’s been a game changer!

Hi, I’m Meri, owner and photographer of Meri Lee Photography. My most important job over my business is my family. I’m a wife and mom of five kids. If I’m not behind the camera, you can find me enjoying time with my family and friends.
