Founding Attorney

How long have you been a Boston Business Women member?

I'm a long-time lurker in the group, but I've been a member for about 6 months.

Where are you based? How did you end up there?

My law firm is based in Whitinsville, Massachusetts (Worcester County), although I live in northern Rhode Island. I ended up in this area as a mid-point for my work in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island courts.

Tell us more about your company! What do you do and what pushed you to start?

At Foundations Family Law, we strive to resolve family law conflicts as painlessly and peacefully as possible. We offer mediation services as well as legal representation for parties facing a range of family law issues including divorce, custody matters, guardianships of a minor, and post-final judgment cases (such as modifications and contempt actions). We are particularly experienced in representing survivors of domestic violence, narcissistic abuse, and coercive control, as well as cases concerning the potential removal of a child out-of-state.

How have you grown within your personal and professional life due to the success of your business?

It's hard to quantify the amount of growth that I've experienced in my short time as an entrepreneur. I've dedicated a lot of time and energy into mindset work and learning about the Law of Attraction. The success of my business has skyrocketed my confidence and confirmed that when I show up authentically for my business, I attract like-minded clients who are the right fit for our firm.

What is your definition of success? How do you know when you’ve reached it?

My definition of success is earning a comfortable living while carrying out your soul's true calling. I know I've reached success when I feel at peace with the various components of my life (family, work, self...)

Tell us about your most transformational moment as an entrepreneur?

I am in awe whenever I have been able to extend an employment offer to a potential new team member. I value being able to create flexible work opportunities for professional working mothers, and it always feels so magical when I have been able to create and fill another position.

What was one of your biggest challenges in business?

One of my biggest challenges in business has been avoiding shiny object syndrome. There are so many options and resources available to entrepreneurs, and it can be tempting to try anything and everything to see what works. I've learned that if it's not a true ``Hell, Yes!`` then it's a ``No!``

How has being a Boston Business Women Inner Circle member positively influenced your life + business?

Being a BBW Inner Circle member has been a complete gift to my life and business. The caliber of bad-ass women in the membership is seriously off-the-charts. I've made such valuable, authentic connections with other members allowing us to offer one other support, referrals, and collaboration opportunities. I've forged wonderful friendships within the group and generated tens of thousands of dollars in revenue for the firm from BBW referrals.

Tell us about your most proud moment in your career.

My most proud moment of my career was when I decided to bet it all on myself, hang my own shingle, and open my own business. It was an equally petrifying and exhilarating experience, but the rewards have been so sweet and satisfying.

Who is the woman behind your business? What does she like? How does she spend her free time? What does she value?

I am sober, spiritual, committed to my own greatness, and passionate about improving societal structures for women today and generations to come. I am a wife, mother of 2, and life-long learner and seeker. We have a small homestead with chickens, ducks, and Nigerian Dwarf goats. I love yoga, spending time with my animals, traveling, and camping with my family. I'm also a creator and enjoy making goat milk soap and homemade candles. In my free time, you would probably catch me taking a nap for some much-needed rest!

What makes you stand out from others in your field? What do you do differently?

I created FFL to be an intentionally different law firm. Our approach is caring and dignified. While not afraid to utilize strong tactics if needed, the preferred method is respectful and amicable, especially when children are involved. I am a heart-centered entrepreneur and attorney, and care deeply about my clients, their families, and their futures.

Where can we keep up with you? What social media platforms do you use the most?

Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. You can also check out the Divorce Detox podcast (available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify) which I co-host!
