Tell us more about your company! What do you do and what pushed you to start?
I’m a Montessori educator by trade and experience. I am also a product of the arts and creativity through my schooling. ✨ My company, Star Path Montessori, is the marrying of my 2 passions: Montessori and Creative Expression.
I believe in the positive change early education can make to our world through liberating the gifts of the young child. I am an advocate on how Montessori’s focus on following the child’s natural development can bring about such positive growth in society and culture. It is my mission to change the perception of the beauty and benefits of Montessori’s method as only offered in a school setting. My belief is that Montessori is a way of life, a way of being, and it should be available to as many children and families as possible, not just those who are lucky enough to attend a Montessori school. Montessori is and should be for everyone!
Through Star Path, I offer a space where families can gather in community, and children can gain a Montessori experience in exploration and classes. This space is structured to supplement and offer opportunities outside of school hours. I offer classes on weekends, select holidays, and school vacation weeks. Class options include yoga, cooking, art, creative movement one-to-one tutoring, and playspace gatherings, all in an authentic prepared Montessori environment.
I want to reach families who are looking for an engaging experience for their young child on non-school days, when these opportunities are typically few and far between. All of my classes are Montessori-inspired, structured following Montessori's key principles of accessibility, independence, and optimal participation.
As part of Star Path, I also offer consulting and coaching services for caregivers of varying roles, because, embracing Montessori is more than just wooden shelves and toy subscriptions! Services include online parent community coaching, a self-guided Montessori start-up course, an in-home Montessori design guidance package, and consulting partnerships with schools and educators.
Star Path is your one-stop Montessori connection. Not a school, but everything in between.
What is your definition of success? How do you know when you’ve reached it?
My vision of success is the feeling of freedom: when I am doing all that I love and spending time with the people that I love, without limiting beliefs clouding my joy. This is when I have reached success.
Tell us about your most transformational moment as an entrepreneur?
One of the most amazing experiences so far in my entrepreneurial journey has been bringing an idea to life and seeing it blossom into a successful and desirable ‘service’ to others. It is an incredible feeling, taking something that you love, and creating a way to share it with the world, and having it received so beautifully and openly.
What was one of your biggest challenges in business?
Maintaining a work-life balance that allows me to fit in the 'have to dos' with the 'want to dos.' Luckily, I have gotten to a point where the 'haves' and 'wants' are mostly the same so finding that balance has been easier!
How do you handle the harder days? The struggles? Those moments when you feel like giving up?
I use reflection as a constant tool of centering to get me through the tough times and struggle spots. When I think of how much I have accomplished, and how far I've come, it helps me push through those challenges and continue to grow.
How has being a Boston Business Women Inner Circle member positively influenced your life + business?
Being a member of BBW has allowed me the opportunity to share my personal journey and learn from the experience of others. The group is powerful and so supportive! It is a great honor to be amongst such talent and inspiration.
Tell us about your most proud moment in your career.
One of the proudest moments in my career has been gaining a Masters of Education in Montessori.
Who is the woman behind your business? What does she like? How does she spend her free time? What does she value?
Clarissa is a mom. Clarissa is an artist. Clarissa is a dream catcher. She enjoys being involved in her community of Dedham, MA. where many of her fellow business besties reside. She likes fun opportunities to sing, dance, and relax in nature, especially the lakes of Vermont and New Hampshire. She LOVES the Winter months, especially the snowy ones, and does not like the heat, even though she does visit Florida often where her family still lives. And, most of all, she enjoys being adventurous with her best friend, her son
What makes you stand out from others in your field? What do you do differently?
My focus is in being an advocate for children, helping to change how they are viewed in society, and how society prepares spaces for these young and capable learners. One way I do this is by allowing more families the opportunity to experience Montessori, without the big price tag of school tuition, in a beautiful, authentic, Montessori environment that can be accessed by many. I partner directly with families to support them in their journey, I guide their learning through what can be one of the most challenging times, but is also the most beautiful time. I help others understand how to assist the young child by liberating their abilities, therefore making the path they are on a brighter one!
Where can we keep up with you? What social media platforms do you use the most?
I am always up for a chat and welcome the calls, Zooms and text messages anytime. I am also active on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Looking forward to connecting!
