Tell us more about your company! What do you do and what pushed you to start?
I am a portrait photographer specializing in business branding and modern headshots. I started my business in 2014 while working full-time in IT for a large non-profit healthcare company. In 2020, my position was terminated, which was bittersweet. I have rented an 800-square-foot studio for the last 5 years and love empowering women in business through my work.
What is your definition of success? How do you know when you’ve reached it?
Success isn’t about money for me—it’s about the community I’ve built within my private Facebook group and my business ambassadors, clients who refer others. I’m still growing into my role as a business owner, so success feels like an ongoing journey.
Tell us about your most transformational moment as an entrepreneur?
Creating a passion project for women in business in my local town. Becoming my own boss in my dream job was also deeply transformational.
What was one of your biggest challenges in business?
Finding confidence to set boundaries, appreciating my worth, and realizing I could accomplish anything I put my mind to. It was also challenging to find others building a business from the ground up, as I started entirely from my heart.
How do you handle the harder days? The struggles? Those moments when you feel like giving up?
I take deep breaths, consult my mentors for guidance, and write down my accomplishments on sticky notes in my office. Affirmations are an important part of staying motivated.
How has being a Boston Business Women Inner Circle member positively influenced your life + business?
I am new to the group, but I hope it will help me make new connections and grow my business.
Tell us about your most proud moment in your career.
Speaking about my passion project of highlighting women in business through portraits at my local chamber event.
Who is the woman behind your business? What does she like? How does she spend her free time? What does she value?
I am a mom, wife, and fun friend. I recently became a dog mom for the first time in 30 years. I have two grown sons and a husband who just retired after 30 years as a police officer. I love hiking, being outdoors, and value family time above all else. I enjoy laughing and making memories with my loved ones.
What makes you stand out from others in your field? What do you do differently?
I love to have fun and want my clients to feel like I’m their friend, not just a photographer. I get to know my clients through a questionnaire and customized consult before their session. I guide them on wardrobe, props, and vision, giving them the power to create their own vision while I support them.
