Tell us more about your company! What do you do and what pushed you to start?
I am a Portrait photographer specializing in Business Branding and Modern Headshots. I started my business in 2014 while working a full time job in IT for a large non profit healthcare company. In 2020 they terminated my position and it was a bittersweet moment. I rent a 800 square foot studio for the last 5 years and just love empowering women in business.
What is your definition of success? How do you know when you’ve reached it?
My definition of success is not about money. It is more about the community I have built within my own private Facebook group and also the ambassadors of my business. These are clients who have referred me to their coworkers and friends. I am not sure if I will every feel success as others. I also feel like I am still growing into the role of being a business owner.
Tell us about your most transformational moment as an entrepreneur?
Creating a passion project for women in business in my local town. It was one of the most amazing projects lifting up and showcasing others. I can also add that becoming my own boss of my dream job was very transformational.
What was one of your biggest challenges in business?
Finding confidence to put up boundaries. Appreciating my worth and knowing that I can do anything I put my mind to. I also found it difficult to find others who were struggling with running a business from the ground up. I did everything backwards and started with my heart.
How do you handle the harder days? The struggles? Those moments when you feel like giving up?
I take deep breaths and look to my mentors for inspiration and advice. I write down the good things that I have accomplished and put them on a sticky note on my office window. Affirmations are so important.
How has being a Boston Business Women Inner Circle member positively influenced your life + business?
I am a new member but hoping it will influence my business with new connections.
Tell us about your most proud moment in your career.
Speaking about my passion project of Highlighting Women in Business through portraits at my local chamber event.
Who is the woman behind your business? What does she like? How does she spend her free time? What does she value?
I am a mom, wife and fun friend. I just became a dog mom for the first time in 30 years and wouldn't trade it for anything. I have two grown sons and my hubby just retired from being a police officer for over 30 years. I love to hike and be outside. I value my family time more than anything and enjoy laughing and making memories with them.
What makes you stand out from others in your field? What do you do differently?
I LOVE TO HAVE FUN. I want my clients to feel like I am their friend - not just a photographer with a camera in your face. I get to know my clients first with a questionnaire and a customized consult prior to their session time with me. I give my clients the power to create their own vision while I guide them on wardrobe, props, etc.
Where can we keep up with you? What social media platforms do you use the most?
Facebook, Instagram, TikTok.
