Founder and Owner

What is your Instagram handle?

It’s very old and not updated.
How long have you been a Boston Business Women member?
More than a year
Where are you based? How did you end up there?
Boston! I grew up on the north shore and went to college in the city.
Tell us more about your company! What do you do and what pushed you to start?
My company is mainly an in person and virtual pilates studio. My goal is to create movement classes that make people feel better. We were so ingrained growing up to workout to look good or to fit into something. Fitness should be for our physical and mental health. Not to create more of a divide between women. I strongly believe that everyone can succeed and we need to bring more empathy into the world.
What is your definition of success? How do you know when you’ve reached it?
Success to me would be making an impact in the fitness world and for women. That you are perfect as you are. Do what you love because it makes you happy and feel good.
Tell us about your most transformational moment as an entrepreneur?
It has been an incredible ride. I started from not knowing if anyone would want to work with me to teaching a Pilates warm up at the Breast Cancer walk this year at the hatch shell. I always tell my clients, if I can do it you absolutely can. I was crippling shy growing up and now I teach to hundred of people.
What was one of your biggest challenges in business?
I love this question. Boundaries. Learning to say no if I will impact my mental health. Knowing it’s ok to ask for help or need a break. That you can choose your circle, you don’t need to have someone around who doesn’t bring positivity into your world and work space.
How do you handle the harder days? The struggles? Those moments when you feel like giving up?
Sometimes I give in and let myself have a few hours or a day. Other times I remind myself to stop comparing to social media. Do the work. People will come to you for who you are and there will always be someone else doing something similar and that’s ok!
How has being a Boston Business Women Inner Circle member positively influenced your life + business?
It has been such a great community to network and hear other stories. It’s so helpful to know what other entrepreneurs are up to in their business. What helps them and what they struggle with.
Tell us about your most proud moment in your career.
This is a tricky one. I would have to say this one client, let’s name her G. She reached out saying she was having terrible anxiety after being home with Covid for two week and wanted to do a virtual private session. She’s been a member and client for a while. After her session she was raving about how much better she felt mentally and physically and how much my sessions have impacted her mental health. This is why I do what I do.
Who is the woman behind your business? What does she like? How does she spend her free time? What does she value?
Hi! I’m Jill 🙂 dog mom to Hazel and new fiancé to my partner Danny. During my free time I like to do anything involving food. Cook, grocery shop, search the city for the best treats. I also love to travel, hike, spend time with loved ones. My whole family lives within a 5 minute walk in Boston and it’s incredible.
What makes you stand out from others in your field? What do you do differently?
I love this question. Fitness can often be superficial. It can feel fake and unwelcoming. I like to think I stand out because I want to make fitness a fun and welcoming space. It’s so hard to get yourself to a group class, to go somewhere new that might feel clicky and challenging. Showing up is that hardest part and we forget that. You showed up to my class, awesome you are a badass. I don’t care how well you did compared to the person next to you. We are all different and we look and move differently.
Where can we keep up with you? What social media platforms do you use the most?
I use Instagram the most (@movementwith_jill). Starting to get into YouTube. I have a TikTok but it’s not my favorite form of social media 🙂
