Where are you based? How did you end up there?
Based in Lowell, MA. Kaylyn moved from Florida to Boston at 21 to pursue photography. She lived in Boston until 25 while working in the startup community, then moved to Lowell to be closer to family after having her first child. She’s now rebuilding her career as a photographer and business strategist while raising two kids.
Tell us more about your company! What do you do and what pushed you to start?
Kaylyn owns a wedding photography business with her partner. She shifted to weddings after pregnancy because the startup world often marginalized expecting women. Weddings allowed her to continue her craft in an industry that celebrates pregnancy, combining her photography skills with business strategy to build Seamless Photography.
What is your definition of success? How do you know when you’ve reached it?
Success is about milestones, not a destination. Kaylyn considers herself successful for raising two toddlers, building a thriving business, and forging a new path while rolling with life’s challenges.
Tell us about your most transformational moment as an entrepreneur.
Reaching a stage where clients find her instead of her seeking leads. Completing two price changes in a year and finally charging her worth has been transformational.
What was one of your biggest challenges in business?
Time management. With both kids finally in school, she now has more time than ever to focus on growing her business.
How do you handle the harder days? The struggles? Those moments when you feel like giving up?
Kaylyn allows herself to feel the day fully—whether sad or idle—then wakes up, makes coffee, and starts again. There’s no giving up, only a new direction.
