Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
I was born and raised in Maine and became a bit of an East Coast ''nomad'' after high school. I lived in the south for several years and upon getting engaged in my mid-twenties, my husband (fiance at the time) and I decided to return to our roots in New England, but this time settled in the Boston area for a little adventure!
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
After a first life in finance I felt there was more I could offer in life than what I was giving of myself within the four walls of my 19th floor cubicle. I was always called to herbal medicine, homeopathy, healing with foods and all of the gifts the earth gives us, but ignored those calls because there was ''no money'' and ''no career'' in it. At least that's what society convinced me was the truth... I eventually dipped my toes in the water and took the safe route into the world of holistic health and went down the path of nutrition, earning my MS and Registered Dietitian designation. As I started practicing and working with women in the private setting I realized there was still SO MUCH MORE I could offer for their healing and transformational journeys. I began to submerge myself in herbal medicines, learning about them, practicing with them, making them, I became drawn to shamanic & spiritual healing, I listened to the calls of my own soul & intuition and out of it has morphed a practice that truly connects women back into their bodies physically, energetically, and spiritually. I have found the blend of my formal training (aka the science) along with my experience and training in ancient healing modalities to be incredibly powerful for transforming one's health and overall wellbeing.
What would your clients say about you and your company?
In the words of one of my clients: ''Put simply, Kristen changed my life. I had been trying different things focused on weight loss, but didn’t really have a true plan. When I first met Kristen, she broadened our conversation and pushed me to take a more holistic view of what’s possible. We focused on things I had often overlooked…stress, sleep, meditation, and, of course, food. Throughout our journey together, Kristen has been a wonderful blend of clarity, compassion, enthusiasm, and accountability. She always starts our sessions by asking a handful of questions, and then listens carefully. She makes our sessions all about me, and how to bring out the very best in me…mind, body, and spirit. Kristen also has an amazing ability to anticipate several steps ahead in providing guidance. With both challenges and successes, Kristen reminds me to be kind to myself and celebrate the learnings and successes. To that end, I’ve lost 50 pounds over the past two years. But perhaps even more important, I discovered more about myself that I thought possible. Kristen is truly amazing!''
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Stop listening to everyone else. What does your own intuition day?
What is your favorite book?
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer AND The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)
Meditating EVERY morning outside before doing anything else
What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying it in your career or business?
My most recent win is getting authentic and finally letting my true self come alive within my business and sharing this publicly! I was terrified to make the switch from just nutrition services to coaching that was all encompassing - mind, body, soul. Being aligned & authentic brings magic!
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Listen to your soul, follow what lights you up, dream and dream BIG, do not let anyone else make you feel like your dreams are a waste of time or are dumb. Do what feels good to YOU and only what feels good!
How do you enjoy your free time?
My free time is always spent outside, gardening, landscaping, laying in the trees, floating in the ocean!
What is something that not many people know about you?
My husband and I purchased an RV a year ago and now we live in it for weeks at a time traveling all around! We're like snowbirds - we spend summers in New England and winters in the south! I also homeschool our daughter :).
