BBW MEMBER INTERVIEW: Francine Tirrell, Mindset Coach

What is your name?

Francine Tirrell.

What is your occupation?

I am a Mindset Coach.

What is your business name?

How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?

2 years.

What is your instagram handle?

What is your linked in URL?

Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?

Yes.

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?

In 2010, I was looking for girlfriends and found a group that met monthly for thought provoking conversations. The group was run by a coach. At the time I did not even know what a coach was. I was a leader in corporate and believed that I coached my team, but as I began to understand coaching more, I knew that there was so much more to it, but I had excuses as to why I couldn't go to coaching school.... time, money etc. It wasn't until 2012 when a close friend passed away suddenly that I realized life was too short and I finally signed up. I continued to work in corporate leading teams and using my skills there with the occasional client on the side.

In December of 2019, the company I was working for went out of business and I was laid off. I spent the first couple of months looking for another corporate job, because ''I couldn't afford to start my own business''.......Then the pandemic hit!!

In April of 2020, someone reached out to me and asked me if I was coaching... Well there wasn't much else going on then so I said ''Yes!'' and I have not looked back! What I have learned is that ALL of the stories I told myself were just stories and once I allowed myself to surrender and trust that everything is happening ''for me'' and NOT ''to me'', my business has taken off and I have so much joy in what I do.

What would your clients say about you and your company?

Some recent quotes from clients : ''Need a coach that can kick your ass and help you laugh while she's doing it? This one right here will do that for you. It's nothing personal, she just wants to make sure you achieve your goals and not ''give up'' on yourself in the process. Best money spent!''

'Working with Francine has been eye-opening and life changing in such a short time. I cannot wait to make even more strides while working with her.'

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Right after I was laid off in 2019, the coach that ran the group I was in said to me ''Francine for as long as I have known you, you have always landed on your feet''. I remember thinking - SHE IS RIGHT! I often remind myself of that when I get nervous in my business or something feels scary.

What is your favorite book?

Loving What Is by Byron Katie and Daring Greatly by Brene Brown

What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)

Looking inward when anything external 'triggers' me. Sometimes it is journaling, Meditation, talking with a friend or coach. But it is look at MY response to what is happening, because that is the ONLY thing I can change!

What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying it in your career or business?

WINNING THE BBW 10K PRIZE WAS PRETTY AMAZING!!!!

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Everything is happening for your highest good. Enjoy the journey and know you are always safe and protected.....even when it does not feel that way.

How do you enjoy your free time?

With friends and my husband and BFF of 21 years.

What is something that not many people know about you?

I was on one of the last Oprah shows in 2011. She had 100 people that lost over 100 pounds. I lost over 100 pounds in the mid 90s and have kept it off.
