Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
I was born and raised in Northern California, 30 minutes north of San Francisco. I came here originally to be closer to family on the east coast. After landing on Cape Cod, I have chosen to stay here because the coastal environment feeds my soul and for the vibrant, supportive arts community I feel part of.
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
Gillian Inspired brings you a lifestyle brand featuring unique, beautiful jewelry for the soul. We are a woman-owned, small business on Cape Cod. Years ago I realized I couldn't find affordable jewelry that used quality gemstones and components that spoke to me. I wanted my jewelry to better reflect who I am with yogi symbols, shapes and healing gemstones to inspire me. Now I strive to create each piece with love, inspiration and meaning: a reminder to the wearer for the capacity of change and growth. Focused on self-discovery and reflection, our jewelry is charged with an energy that speaks to the soul, and style that’s meant to empower & inspire.
What would your clients say about you and your company?
Our customers love our jewelry for many reasons. Some are attracted to the jewelry for its quality and price point. Some love the unique designs and can feel the energies of the stones. We often hear, “I have never seen jewelry like this before!” and “I love that you offer quality jewelry with healing energies.” Above all, when we meet clients face to face, they tell us that they like to admire and wear the jewelry, and appreciate we encourage mind, body and spirit health.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
People who have the initiative to take risks, to go out and meet people and be able to convey an idea and way to make that idea come to life, will not have a problem finding success.
What is your favorite book?
I have many but I will say today that I love The Dream Book by Betty Bethards. I love to analyze my dreams.
What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)
I am a visual person, aka creative, so I love my weekly/monthly planner. But I also pride myself on being tech savvy. When collaborating, I add things to my digital calendar, especially when marketing on social media. Organization is key.
What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying it in your career or business?
Becoming the exclusive jewelry designer for a large hotel/spa chain. There are multiple locations. It could be a lucrative and long term relationship. They also really appreciate my mission, my message, my esthetic, which is wonderful.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Start saving money. Value who you are; don't look to others to define that. Learn to stand on your own two feet: financially, emotionally, spiritually. Accept where you are. Grow and Learn. You are in the right place always.
How do you enjoy your free time?
learning more about yoga, listening to podcasts, walking outdoors, crossword puzzles
What is something that not many people know about you?
I've been a vegetarian since I was ten.
