BBW MEMBER INTERVIEW: Caitlin Wall, Videographer

What is your name?

Caitlin Wall.

What is your occupation?

I am a Videographer.

What is your business name?

How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?

Less than 1 year.

What is your instagram handle?

What is your linked in URL?

Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?

I live in New Hampshire, but grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts!

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?

I have been a photographer for quite some time, but in February 2020 I was on a retreat volunteering with the middle schoolers at my church and a staff member asked me to record something for them on my camera, because it was better than their own. I had no idea how to even record video and had to have them show me, but from the moment I started recording I knew that I had stumbled on something amazing - I was obsessed from that point on! Since then I have mostly replaced my photography business with video work, both with businesses and with families, and it is my new love!

What would your clients say about you and your company?

'That I work *video magic*

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Some advice that has turned out to be significant in my business is to surround yourself with people who are achieving the things that you want to, and to network!! I have had so many jobs and referrals from people I have met through various groups, which is why I recently joined this one!

What is your favorite book?

Oh gosh - I absolutely love to read. Harry Potter will always be number 1 for a personal book, along with Redeeming Love and All the Light We Cannot See. For a work related book - Building a Storybrand by Donald Miller.

What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)

Having a background in playing instruments and being involved with various dance organizations has helped so much in my audio work with video. It's definitely an advantage I have in this field!

What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying it in your career or business?

Most recent win: almost tripling my business profits this past year, from what it was in each of the first few years of business. I am close to moving full-time, and cannot wait!

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Recognize how your expectations and mindset can hold you back. And - great job with the constant reading, listening to podcasts, and time spent on online courses!

How do you enjoy your free time?

Traveling - before 2020, my husband and I took a big trip to Italy, and then to England & Scotland. I can't wait to travel again. I also love love reading, watching new movies, and (tent) camping.

What is something that not many people know about you?

My great grandfather coached at Penn State and is in their hall of fame! It is fun to visit and see my maiden name on the wall.
