Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
I was born and raised in Wareham and now work in New Bedford, but I’m excited to connect with members throughout the Greater Boston area.

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
I’m the Director of Development for United Way of Greater New Bedford. Our mission is to mobilize people, partnerships, and resources to catalyze change that strengthens the communities we serve. I’ve always loved volunteering and supporting my community, so a career in nonprofits was the perfect choice. I started working in development for Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts right out of college, and after three years, I became Director of Development for United Way of Greater New Bedford.

What would your clients say about you and your company?
Nicole loves raising funds to support an organization that positively impacts the community in health, education, financial stability, and basic needs.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
You don’t know what you don’t know, so never stop learning.

What is your favorite book?
A Wrinkle in Time

What is your secret weapon?
My not-so-secret weapon is my phone. I use it for everything personally and professionally—connecting with people, staying on track with my calendar and to-do lists, and more.

What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying it in your career or business?
I worked on a campaign to secure funding to build a new elementary school in my town. It’s a huge win for the community, and I’m proud to have been part of the team that made it possible.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

  1. You’re not afraid of failing; you’re afraid of others seeing you fail. Stop worrying about what others think—you’ll be surprised by what you can accomplish.

  2. Degrees, jobs, success—it all comes in time. Stop rushing and enjoy where you are right now.

How do you enjoy your free time?
I spend time with family and friends—playing tennis, riding ATVs, and enjoying the outdoors. I also love watching Patriots games and attending sporting events.

What is something that not many people know about you?
I started karate at three years old and became a third-degree black belt before high school.
