BBW MEMBER INTERVIEW: Michelle Hacunda, Marketing & Communications Consultant

What is your name?

Michelle Hacunda.

What is your occupation?

I am a Marketing & Communications Consultant.

What is your business name?

How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?

Less than 1 year.

What is your instagram handle?

What is your linked in URL?

Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?

Yes, I am a lifelong Massachusetts native.

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?

I worked in the field of marketing and communications for close to 10 years. During that time, I had exposure to a variety of industries including financial services, higher education, and biotech. I always wanted to have my own business and finally took the leap right before COVID. I am excited about helping brands with a larger mission/purpose.

What would your clients say about you and your company?

My clients would say that I'm always bringing new ideas to my work. I teach as an adjunct faculty at Emerson College and Boston College. I am constantly researching the top brands/campaigns/strategies and bring that to my day-to-day work with clients.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I've ever received is to not give up and keep going.

What is your favorite book?

Harry Potter (series), by J.K. Rowling.

What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)

My secret weapon is my Gmail calendar and reminders. It keeps me organized!

What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying it in your career or business?

My most recent win is coming up with a social media strategy/plan for myself. I spend so much time with clients that sometimes I don't get to focus on my own marketing and I'm getting back to that.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I would tell myself that it's okay to not have a perfect path. Entrepreneurship looks different than others on the corporate path (nothing wrong with that). It's inspiring to talk to other business owners.

How do you enjoy your free time?

I spend my free time with my partner, friends, and family. I love anything health and wellness from yoga to pilates. I also love trying new cafes/restaurants with gluten free and dairy free options. I can also be found exploring new crystals, essential oils, etc.

What is something that not many people know about you?

Many people might not know how much I love the wellness space. I'm constantly doing my own research on how to optimize health and well-being.
