Jenn Plante
What is your occupation?
Photographer
What is your business name?
How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?
Less than a year
What is your instagram handle?
What is your linked in URL?
Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
I was born and raised in Amesbury, I now live in Dracut
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
My company, Jenn Plante Photography, officially started in February 2019. I've been into photography since my freshman year in high school when I got involved in my school newspaper. I rose through the ranks to photography editor by my junior year and learned so much through that experience. I then went to college for a completely non-photography related field and photography got pushed aside for a bit. Once I got to the age where everyone I knew was getting married I would watch all the wedding photographers at each wedding and think 'I want that job.' Finally after years of daydreaming about having a career as a photographer I stopped and thought 'why can't I'? So Jenn Plante Photography was born!
What would your clients say about you and your company?
I'm a laid back, fun, patient photographer that aims to make your photo session as least stressful as possible. My style is bright and vibrant, I love color!
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
``Just keep swimming!`` There have been so many moments where I've wanted to give up on my dream, but I'm so glad I've pushed through to bring me to where I am today.
What is your favorite book?
Gone with the Wind
What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)
Tave Studio Manager. It keeps my schedule in line, all my jobs, emails, leads etc in one place. I'd be lost without it!
What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying it in your career or business?
I've been spending a lot more time marketing lately, which is now really starting to pay off booking-wise.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would have started my business right out of high school! The arts are definitely a field that we're taught not to pursue because of the 'starving artist' stereotype. I would let myself know that if I work hard at it you can absolutely be successful and have a fulfilling life!
How do you enjoy your free time?
With my husband and two kids, Mace (age 4) and Nira (3 months)
What is something that not many people know about you?
I am a huge Disney nerd. Walt Disney World is my happy place. We aim to go at least twice per year (during non-covid times at least) and I've been more times than I can possibly count. If I could move down there I would in a second!
