What is your name?

Laura Williamson

What is your occupation?

Personal Trainer/Pilates instructor/Health Coach

What is your business name?

How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?

Less than a year

What is your instagram handle?

What is your linked in URL?

Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?

No, born in NYC, but raised here all my life.

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?

Bare Fitness LLC is the north shore’s premier Pilates Gym. We offer personal training, Pilates and health coaching. The goal of the company is for it to be a respite or home away from home. We help our clients to empower themselves to take control of their lives and build confidence through how they feel, move and look. Personal training was not the career I had planned for myself. My other passion is communications. I wanted to continue working in that field. When I left my previous job I decided to take some time off from working to try and decide what I would do next. During my time “away” I started working on my personal training certification and began personal training. One year later the reality hit me that I was were I was supposed to be. I still have a passion for communications, but it’s true what they say if you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life. I’m fortunate and grateful to be able to have a career doing what I enjoy.

What would your clients say about you and your company?

I’ve been told that I’m a challenging trainer, but I’m polite when I push. I’ve also been told that I’m very supportive.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

My mother always told me growing up to never say, I can’t! I can do anything I set my mind to! I believed her then and I believe her now.

What is currently your favorite book?

I don’t have one.

What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)

They say you can’t multitask effectively, however I’m good at putting out “fires” and thinking outside of the box to get things done. Actually, it’s my super power.:0)

What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying it in your career or business?

Keeping my business afloat during Covid is a daily win for me. I’m better at interacting with people one to one, but owning my own business has forced me to step outside of my comfort zone and be more open and meet new people.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

You’re doing it right. Trust your instincts. Don’t settle. You’re worth it.

How do you enjoy your free time?

With my husband, my mother, friends, working, watching movies, traveling and my weakness shopping.

What is something that not many people know about you?

I enjoyed and miss my pole dancing classes. I wish I could have had more lessons, but it was too difficult to go with my training schedule and my bad knee.
