BBW MEMBER INTERVIEW: Kelly King, Integrative Health Coach, realEATable wellness

What is your name?

Kelly King

What is your occupation?

Integrative Health Coach

What is your business name?

How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?

Less than a year

What is your instagram handle?

@kellyelizabethking

What is your linked in URL?

Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?

I am not! I'm from Middletown, RI (just outside of Newport). I came here post-college to pursue my career, and my love for the city has kept me here.

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?

I have always had a passion for wellness, especially how food contributes to ones personal health. As an integrative health coach I work 1-1 and lead group programs to address my clients health goals. I work with clients on meal plans and which foods work for them, but we also explore other aspects of their life; time management, organization, relationships (what the industry calls ``primary foods``). My training comes from both The Institute of Integrative Health and Northeastern University.

What would your clients say about you and your company?

Quote from client: ``Working with Kelly helped me create tangible, measurable, and specific direction and goals for my overall wellness. Her suggestions were customized to my personal health and wellness needs and she truly listened during our meetings to create plans that best fit me. I have already achieved health goals in the last couple weeks since implementing her suggestions!``

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Just go for it! It is terrifying to start your own business and there is never a ``right time,`` so just start one day. It doesn't have to be anything big, it can simply be buying a website domain. Just start.

What is your favorite book?

Currently reading Grit and I recommend!

What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)

Time blocking! I own these little cube timers with anything from 1 minute to 1 hour on them and I set them throughout the day. Say I give myself 5 minutes to scroll instagram and check in with my community, then 30 minutes to do an email sweep. It keeps me in check.

What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying it in your career or business?

Launching my first group program! I am working with 20 clients in a group setting (virtually) and love the community it has built. I am absolutely making this a permanent part of my business.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Start sooner! I had a passion for health and wellness in early college but I was nervous to do my own thing. Also, do not be embarrassed to branch out on your own, instead realize how respected a move like this is.

How do you enjoy your free time?

Reading, catching up on my shows and seeing my loved ones! I also love a good Target shopping spree.

What is something that not many people know about you?

I LOVE learning about anything spiritual - astrology, numerology, mediums, etc. I find it incredibly interesting.
