Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?

Yes - Born and raised just north of Boston and currently reside in Wilmington. I've also had an office in the Back Bay on Newbury Street since September of 2005.

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?

Since the age of 5 when I received my first camera, I've been capturing life through a lens and never looked back. I definitely grew up surrounded by lots of ``shutterbugs`` on my mom’s side of the family. I ran my high school darkroom (which was especially exciting as it hadn't been used in many years) and was the yearbook photo editor from my sophomore through senior years. Throughout my college years at Salem State, I helped run both the color and black and white darkrooms for the photography department. While finishing up my last couple of years in college, I started my first professional career in sales at a major photo/video store where I had the privilege of training under regional and national representatives for many of the major camera brands. Soon after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Science with a Photography concentration, I started working for a photography studio doing studio portraits, weddings and sports photography. In 2004 at the age of 25, I started Person Killian Photography, LLC as a co-owner alongside Laurén Killian and most recently, launched Jill Person Photography earlier this year.

What would your clients say about you and your company?

Supportive, patient, calm, organized, funny, energetic-are just a few words used by her clients to describe who Jill Person is at her core. Superb, high-quality, amazing, exquisite, gorgeous, incredible-are just a few ways that her clients describe her photography. Jill has become one of the most sought-after premier Boston photographers for all of the above reasons and so many more!

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

This was told to me the first year in business and I have still holds true: Network - Network - Network - The friendships and industry respect will not come instantly - it may even take a years until you have proven yourself with quality work and professionalism to your clients and peers - but when you work at something and truly love what you do - it will pay off.

What is your favorite book?

I love getting lost in any good book during the quiet season.

What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)

Knowing that if you are not growing or if you get too comfortable where you are in life and in your profession that you are not allowing room to grow. As soon as you think you are at the top of your game, the only place you can go is down - So continue to challenge yourself, set new goals and allow room for constant growth both personally and professionally.

What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying in your career or business?

Rebranding the company including a brand new website and new office location.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Never stop dreaming and working towards those dreams - because they will come true!

How do you enjoy your free time?

With my wife and 3 rescue pups, cooking and working in and on my giant vegetable garden.

What is something that not many people know about you?

In 2014 I received my black belt in the mountains of Colorado training under several 7th and 8th degree national instructors in Kung Fu and Tai Chi and became a certified Medical Qigong Instructor in 2015.
