BBW MEMBER INTERVIEW: Ariana Witkin, MD, Pediatrician and Motherhood Consultant

What is your name and occupation?
Ariana Witkin, MD, Pediatrician and Motherhood Consultant
How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?
Less than a year
What is your instagram handle?
@arianawitkinmd
Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
I grew up in NJ and NYC, but I followed my heart and my husband to Boston!
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
As a pediatrician and mother, I provide expert support and guidance to empower mamas to take care of themselves and decrease anxiety, so they can be present in their lives and cultivate joy with their families.
What would your clients say about you and your company?
One of my all time favorite client quotes: ``Ariana hears me. She hears me and she sees me. Those interactions are somehow quietly stripped from you when you become a mother; everyone's ears are suddenly drawn down to the baby. Ariana looks me in my eyes and listens. I had no idea how much I needed that.``
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Stop waiting for the *right* time to do the thing-- start a business, have a baby, etc. There is never a good time. You create the moment.
What is your favorite book?
Anything by Anne Lamott. She's a genius.
What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying in your career or business?
Launching my business and website! I've been working as a pediatrician for 5 years, and while I Iove clinically working with families, I have been frustrated and disillusioned by the traditional medical system. I have long dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur and creating a way for mothers to get the support they deserve postpartum!
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Cultivating gratitude and positive mindset are EVERYTHING. Also, eat more ice cream.
How do you enjoy your free time?
I love spending time with my family-- my husband and 16mo daughter (which we are doing a lot of these days!). I practice yoga, meditation and mindfulness. I love to spin (mildly obsessed with my Peloton), bake, drink coffee and wine, and TRAVEL.
What is something that not many people know about you?
My second and third toes are webbed. It's actually pretty common (as my medical school teacher pointed out to my entire class during a lecture our first year. It was an awesome way to make friends.).
