What is your name and occupation?

Alli Barnes - Founder and CEO R3Bilt Fitness, Exercise Physiologist, Nutritionist, Herbalist, Health Coach, and Alternative Medicine Practitioner.

How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?

Less than a year

What is your instagram handle?

@R3bilt

What is your Linked in URL?

http://linkedin.com/in/allison-barnes-4b6553190

Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?

Yes! I left for both my undergrad and graduate degrees but always came back!

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?

This is actually worth a future highlight story in itself but in a nutshell, I was medschool and MD bound but got VERY sick with the birth of my first child, Landing me in a drug induced coma for a long time. after pulling though and after medicine couldn’t answer the ‘why’ this happened, I took it upon myself to figure it out. I got my masters and PhD in nutrition and alternative medicine...while still working full time in the hospitals and raising a newborn. My life experiences, education, and job acquired knowledge led me to open a local organic juice Bar, health practice and once I couldn’t reach enough people with those I invented and opened an anti-aging (preventative medicine) mind/body fitness facility. A smarter way to workout!

What would your clients say about you and your company?

They are grateful ❤️! They say it is the best workout they have ever gotten, they love the combined strength and mobility and the favorite is the anti-aging biohack room that is part of the 1-hour workout.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

That your attitude and how you react to everything controls your own happiness and life!

What is your favorite book?

The magic of believing- an old one!

What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)

Balance! I’ve studied nutrition, exercise and medicine for over 20 years now, but I am also a very social person who juggles way too many jobs and commitments at all times...with very little sleep. I can do this, because I know my limits, health needs. And innately how to balance it all for a healthy yet very productive outcome.

What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying in your career or business?

In addition to the fitness studio having the best month to date, I have started a monthly meet up with the most successful, driven, and kind women I know so we can take the time to learn, grow and challange each other. Surround yourself with like=minded people!!

What advice would you give to your younger self?

That life isn’t about making all of the money you could, and getting all of the degrees you could. It’s about showing up, being present, and making the day a little better than it would be without you!

How do you enjoy your free time?

With the people I love, on a beach, in the sun! I still I’ve to play volleyball, surf, ski, and cook 🙂

What is something that not many people know about you?

That I almost died giving birth (the priest was called in), and that I think it was the catalyst to changing my world to make me the best version of myself.
