Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
I started Girls Chronically Rock in 2017 because I wanted to create a movement that inspires and motivates others who are living with a chronic illness or disability—just like me.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from Framingham State University in 2007 and always had a passion for fashion. I knew I wanted to be a business owner and work for myself. Around 2011, I began experiencing strange symptoms in my body and didn’t know what was happening. After visiting my doctor, I was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy while in graduate school at Cambridge College.
At first, I felt lost and uncertain about my future. I became depressed and thought my dreams were over. But over time, I realized I needed to keep going. I began blogging, creating videos, and sharing my story—which led to the creation of Girls Chronically Rock.
What would your clients say about you and your company?
They’d say my company is inspiring and motivational. People of all ages—from kids to seniors—have reached out to tell me how much they love my message and designs. They feel encouraged by my story and excited to see what’s next for Girls Chronically Rock.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Hearing from others that my message, videos, or blogs helped them feel inspired and reminded them that life is worth living—those moments motivate me to keep going, work harder, and never give up.
What is your favorite book?
Anything fashion or business related.
What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, an organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)
I’ve been organized since I was a little girl! I always kept a clean room at home and in college. When things around me aren’t organized, I feel incomplete and unmotivated—so keeping order is key to my energy and productivity.
What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying in your career or business?
Being featured on Good Morning America’s online news was such an empowering moment—it made me realize how far I’ve come and that my hard work is paying off.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Keep going and never give up. Life can be unpredictable, and some things are out of our control—but things always get better. Stay motivated, surround yourself with positive people, and keep pushing forward.
How do you enjoy your free time?
I love watching TV shows like Wendy Williams, Project Runway, 911, Siesta Key, and more. My shows keep me grounded and happy—especially on tough days when I’m fatigued or struggling. Knowing I have them to look forward to always lifts my spirits.
What is something that not many people know about you?
I’m obsessed with buffalo chicken wings and pizza!
