Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
I was born in Chicago, IL, but I am an event specialist and host events in Boston.

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
My husband and I founded Brave Heart Workshops in 2016. I’m a Certified Meeting and Event Specialist who uses years of experience and professional connections with venues, booking agencies, and vendors to secure the best pricing, accommodations, food, and locations for events.

I specialize in business solutions, sales skills, sales techniques, and marketing strategies. I’m organized, self-motivated, and value-driven — using these skills to always represent the best interests of my clients.

What would your clients say about you and your company?
“Jill is a passionate advocate of mental health and wellness. She has years of experience in event planning and has used those skills to create her own boutique company, Brave Heart Workshops.

As a clinician, I love doing workshops and retreats, but I don’t enjoy the planning outside of the clinical content. This is where Jill’s skill set is so valuable. Partnering with Brave Hearts allows me to do what I love — and allows Jill to do the same.

If you have a strong following but need support with event site planning, food, etc., I recommend partnering with Brave Hearts.
— Dr. Laura Wood

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
In business: Plan your work and work your plan.
In life: Always put God first, yourself second — so you can be the best version of you and have energy for others. I used to put others first and had nothing left for myself.

What is your favorite book?
The Bible — to stay close to God and grounded — and anything by Brené Brown.

What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, an organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)
I can’t live without my spreadsheets to stay organized! And I couldn’t do my business without my husband — he’s truly a gem.

What is your most recent WIN? How are you slaying in your career or business?
I recently took on an account with therapists trained by the Gottman Institute and an author of a book on busyness in the workplace.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
It’s not your fault that you were abused. You are wanted, loved, and an amazingly resilient human being. You are a true overcomer.

How do you enjoy your free time?
Teaching water aerobics — I love the water! And I absolutely love Aruba; I’d go there every month if I could.

What is something that not many people know about you?
I was hired to be a Playboy Bunny — and turned it down! I also worked in the music industry in the 1970s and partied with rock and roll legends. Fun fact: I once taught Stevie Nicks Tai Chi backstage at a concert.
