BBW MEMBER INTERVIEW WITH: Kali Patrick, Sleep Wellness Coach

What is your name and occupation?
Kali Patrick, Sleep Wellness Coach
How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?
Less than a year
What is your linked in handle?
Kali Patrick
Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
No - I moved to Waltham when I got tired of commuting from Connecticut for my graduate school classes at Bentley University.
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
My practice is called A Journey Into Health. What led me here was a 20+ year career in the very fast-paced, high-stress world of software development. I suffered from (what's now diagnosed as) burnout, and turned to my yoga practice & several other holistic modalities for help. Sleep is a critical aspect of wellness that is often negatively impacted by our busy lives, & I enjoy helping others find ways to reduce their stress, improve their sleep, and feel better doing the things they enjoy (whether that's working or something else)!
What would your clients say about you and your company?
With the support of the right coach, lifestyle changes that previously seemed so difficult to make & felt so challenging become light & easy.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
If you sense something is ``off`` between you and someone else, address it right away. E.g., ``I got the impression you weren't pleased with what I said in the meeting just now. Is that accurate?`` Often what we imagine others are thinking of us stresses us out WAY more than knowing what's really going on by asking and listening! Frequently, what we perceive as a criticism of us has NOTHING to do with us, and if we let it fester in our mind, we can start behaving in ways that aren't helpful to us or anyone.
What is your favorite book?
Memoirs of a Gesha (so much better than the movie!)
What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)
Refreshing sleep & short self-care breaks throughout the day.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
It's all for your evolution. Trust it will all be OK.
How do you enjoy your free time?
Watching Bruins hockey games.
What is something that not many people know about you?
I was a competitive West Coast Swing dancer for several years.
