What is your name and occupation?
Katie Grimes | Happiness Strategist
How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?
Less than a year
What is your instagram handle?
@kg.katiegrimes
Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
YES
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
I help career-driven high achievers who are looking to attract a life they love through 1-to-1 virtual coaching, workshops, and an annual retreat I created called the Summit of Love. I built my company off of the idea that following our hearts is what matters most to achieve happiness; no matter what life hands up. In 2019, I was let go from my business development role for running my coaching business, which I started because after returning from disability leave. I had PTSD after being sexually assaulted in 2018, I had 3 deaths in my family & lost a friend. All of that, made me realize how important it is to lay the foundation of emotional fitness, not just physical. Hence, how the Heart Files was born (my company) to help others follow their hearts.
What would your clients say about you and your company?
“We all have different fears that stem from the same desires. Working with Katie helped me to recognize that we all want to feel safe, loved, recognized, happy. We can also change the soundtrack by recognizing the fears that keep coming up and changing the story that we tell ourselves to be happier.”
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
If you can't visualize what you want, you won't be able to get it. Believe in yourself and have faith no matter what!
What is your favorite book?
I don't have a favorite - I'm a chronic reader - often multiple at same time (wouldn't recommend it); the untethered soul was a good one I recently read.
What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)
boomerang and calendly help me crush business. Siri has become a new friend, we still don't speak the exact same language, but we're working through it.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Dream big - see it! Actually see it and be okay with being okay. God wants great things for you, but take your hands off the wheel, baby girl.
How do you enjoy your free time?
at the BEACH!!!
What is something that not many people know about you?
I am a recovering love addict; someone who constantly sought approval from others. I'm starting to share my journey because fear, doubt and insecurities are what will make us happy. I try to share this journey with humor and in a light-hearted way about my former beliefs and actions to continue to do the things that make me happy: trust in myself, be kind to others and create connections that nourish my soul.
