Sheila Drakeley Photography

2+ years
What is your instagram handle?
@sheiladrakeleyphotography
Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
I was born and raised in Connecticut. I came to Boston for school and have stayed for my business and career.
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
I had always loved taking photographs: capturing the memories from trips, family events, or just life. In college, with my summer job money I decided to purchase my own camera. I fell in love with the opportunity to capture moments and special events in an individuals life. My company has since evolved and now offers both photography and videography services.
What would your clients say about you and your company?
I always hear from my clients how reliable, talented, transparent, and honest I am. Many of my client speak how they felt comfortable during their session and the quality of my work.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
You cannot build your empire over night. Everything takes time and if you continue to focus on your end goal you will be able to achieve it.
What is your favorite book?
The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down by Anne Fadiman
What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)
For business its Trello as it helps me keep projects and assignments for my interns organized. For personal it is Full Fitness as it allows me to keep track and see my progress on my personal health.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Continue to grow not just physically but mentally and emotionally. You can always continue to learn something new and become a better and more well rounded individual.
How do you enjoy your free time?
Travel. I grew up in a family where we prioritized memories over tangible items and I have always stuck to that lifestyle. I also love to run and have run multiple major races.
What is something that not many people know about you?
I actually run a travel blog, called The Traveling Massholes, which was featured on Chronicle!
