BBW MEMBER INTERVIEW WITH: Meredith Jacobson – Content & Influencer Marketing Strategist

What is your name and occupation?

Meredith Jacobson - Content & Influencer Marketing Strategist

How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?

Less than a year

What is your instagram handle?

@bostonboosters

Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?

Yes! Though I spent 4 years in Los Angeles and 3 years in New York building my career before moving back home in 2018.

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?

I started out working in TV production on Disney & Nickelodeon shows in LA because I wanted to be a TV writer. I eventually realized that I was bored and unsatisfied with my career, working crazy hours towards something that ``may`` happen someday. I decided to switch gears and find a role that would be challenging, creative, and had growth potential. I ended up working for one of the biggest YouTube talent management companies, representing and selling programs with some of the most famous YouTube stars in the world. It's been a whirlwind from there - I moved to New York with my husband when he got into law school, and I was brought on as the East Coast Head of Digital Partnerships at the Bill Gates-owned product placement company, Branded Entertainment Network. I spent two years there, helping clients understand influencer marketing and building relationships in the space. When my husband graduated from school, we decided to move back to Boston to be closer to our families, and I got a job at Digitas. It was an awesome opportunity to learn more about broader digital advertising, and I had the privilege of meeting with hundreds of representatives from a range of content & influencer companies. I realized that it must be really hard for brand marketers who don't have the bandwidth to evaluate all these companies to know which will bring them the most value. So, I decided to launch Boston Boosters as a way to help a wide range of brands, creators, and industry services find the right partners for their budget and goals - much faster!

What would your clients say about you and your company?

I ``get $h!t done!`` Also, they love that I'm patient with them, understand the nuances of what many call ``the Wild West`` in terms of influencer marketing, and that I make them laugh.

What is your favorite book?

Too hard to pick - but I found ``Year of Yes!`` by Shonda Rhimes very motivational.

What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)

Love keeping everything on box.com - makes it so easy to find my files and notes, no matter where I am or what device I'm on.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Eat less sugar - I watched the documentary ``Fed Up`` on Amazon prime recently and after indulging my sweet tooth my entire life it is making me rethink EVERYTHING about what I eat!

How do you enjoy your free time?

Can I confess I'm pretty basic? Friends, family, wine, pumpkin spice everything, coffee, long walks, good TV...

What is something that not many people know about you?

I don't know how to whistle.
