BBW MEMBER INTERVIEW WITH: Erin Madore, CEO & Fitness Professional

What is your name and occupation?
Erin Madore - CEO & Fitness Professional
What is your instagram handle?
@pushupsandcocktails
How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?
1 year
Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
I was born in Fall River, MA and grew up in Brockton, MA - so a local MA girl for sure!
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
I used to be stuck in a dead-end career in HR that made me miserable, but thankfully I fell in love with Yoga and it taught me that I had so much more to offer the world (and myself). So I left my HR career and jumped into the fitness industry. That was over 5 years ago and now I am the CEO of Grounded Warrior, a company that provides short and sweaty workout videos for busy women, and I am opening Savin Hill Fitness Studio in just a few months! Fitness and wellness are not only my passions, they are also my career and for that I am so grateful.
What would your clients say about you and your company?
My clients and members always tell me that they love my personality and how I make exercising fun and enjoyable (but still challenging). They appreciate that my personality shines through my Grounded Warrior workout videos and can't wait to workout with me at my new studio! They also always tell me that I am very motivating and inspiring because I am so down to Earth.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
To be myself. Seriously the best advice I have ever received and something I remind myself of each and every day.
What is your favorite book?
My all time favorite book is A Swiftly Tilting Planet by Madeline L'Engle. My favorite business book is Fire Starter Sessions and You are a Badass.
What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)
My secret weapons are: a good night's sleep, the Notes app on my iPhone, sticky notes, and exercise!
What advice would you give to your younger self?
To worry less and have more fun! I have always been a serious, focused and hard working person, which I love about myself. However, I have thankfully come to learn that life isn't all about work work work and it's important to have fun and enjoy life! That's one of the many reasons I love my husband and business partner, Josh, because he always reminds me to relax, slow down and have fun.
What is something that not many people know about you?
That I used to be a Nude Model for RISD and Brown University in Providence, RI. Honestly, it was the hardest job that I ever had - standing/sitting still for loonngg periods of time with only your thoughts to keep you company is a true challenge.
