How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?

Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
I was born and raised on Long Island. I moved to the Boston area 13 years ago after I got married. Boston has always felt like home to me. I visited the city for my 16th birthday and it's had a piece of my heart ever since.
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
Prior to founding Hope + Bay, I worked as an Interior Designer at a leading New York architectural firm that specialized in Educational Design and Planning. It was there that I learned the important concept that what we design is for our clients not for ourselves. I worked alongside architects, engineers, landscape architects, construction managers and contractors gathering years of experience in all aspects of the design process from client meetings, budgeting, design development, construction documentation and construction management. During my commercial career there I designed interiors for public/private schools, public libraries, churches and private residences. My love for design was sparked at an early age sitting across from my Dad (who is an architect and successfully ran his own business for over 30 years.) He would sit with his plans and yellow trace and let me have my own roll and pencil to be a part of the design process. We worked together for many years and that time designing together was invaluable to my career. Fast-forward to getting married and having children. I knew that I wanted to work for myself and be able to create a life with a schedule flexible enough to let me be the Mom I wanted to be. ``What I love most about my home is that I can raise my family and run my business all under one roof.`` Unknown
