BBW MEMBER INTERVIEW WITH: Lovern Gordon, Founder of Love Life Now Foundation, Inc.

What is your name and occupation?
Lovern Gordon, Founder of Love Life Now Foundation, Inc.
What is your instagram handle?
@lovelifenowfound
How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?
1 year
Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
Born and raised in Trinidad till I migrated to Boston to finish high school...I haven't left since!
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
I came to create my company out of tragedy...as they say, pain into purpose. I was the 2010 winner of two back to back beauty pageants and used the 2 titles as a platform to increase awareness around the issue of domestic violence. As a 15-year child witness to domestic violence and an adult survivor of abuse after a 2-year abusive relationship, she started out by sharing her personal story with abuse to anyone that would listen. The following year after the titles were relinquished, Love Life Now Foundation, Inc. (LLN) was formed. Since then, we've spanned awareness in multiple cities by hosting awareness events year-round…events that have in turn raised thousands of dollars to benefit shelters in various cities across the world. LLN hosts Healthy Relationship Workshops and also founded Love Life Magazine...an online, quarterly publication centered on shining the spotlight around all aspects and behind the scene work on the issue.
What would your clients say about you and your company?
Clients say that we have been instrumental in helping them move toward a healthier version of themselves via the domestic violence resources we provide.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
When the times get tough, the tough gets going. It is advice I have relied on in the dark times. When I received it, it was a time when I thought I wanted to give up on pushing forward. It turned out to be the time I needed to put on my big girl boots and press forward and I did.
What is your favorite book?
Waiting to Exhale by Terry McMillan
What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)
My secret weapon isn't much of a secret...what I use to set the tone of the day is prayer before my feet hit the ground each morning. I literally talk about everything I am going to do and pray it goes the way it's supposed to go...good or bad.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Advice to my younger self would be to 'don't force it...everything that is supposed to happen...will.'
How do you enjoy your free time?
Free time is spent with family, church, traveling and binge watching my fave shows.
What is something that not many people know about you?
Not many people know I can burp on command.
