How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?
2+ years
Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
I grew up in Middleboro, MA about an hour south of the city. I always dreamed of living in Boston and when my husband switched careers and ended up at BC for grad school, we moved here from Hartford, CT.
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
I know how amazing it is to be married to your soulmate. To go to bed each night and wake up each morning beside the one person who loves you more than anything and knows you better than you know yourself. I'm incredibly lucky to be living my own love story and I know that your marriage is the best and most precious thing you'll come away from your wedding day with. And then there will be the memories and the photographs. The photos will tell your wedding day love story and will even capture small sweet moments you never knew happened as the day flew by. My approach to capturing love combines a mixture of documentary storytelling with naturally posed portraiture. My focus is always on the authentic moments (big or small) and emotions (toothy grins or tears of joy) that make a wedding day and a love story unique and beautiful. I launched my business while still teaching high school Social Studies in Hartford, CT. I was blessed to be mentored for an entire wedding season by my own amazing wedding photographer before taking on my own clients. Fast forward to today and I'm now in my seventh year in business and my second year full time. I've also returned to my educator roots with a flat lay photography workshop and a new branch of my business focused on educating other creatives to elevate their photography, styling, and branding so they can stress less and profit more. I'm loving the creative freedom of being my own boss and am so grateful for the friendships, creative partnerships, and support I've found in Boston and in the BBW group.
What would your clients say about you and your company?
My goal is to serve my clients by pouring into them from the day they meet me through the delivery of their images after their wedding day. As a former teacher I aim to educate my clients and answer their questions before they even ask. I always try to alleviate any stress they may feel and keep them focused on the marriage they're starting, because that's what the wedding is really all about! This is the sweetest note I received from a couple on their wedding day that tells me I got it right: ``Lynne, You are truly amazing! During such a stressful planning in which most vendors are business-first, you brought perspective as to what a wedding day is all about. Your thoughtfulness and sincereness will never be forgotten & we're so grateful to have met & been connected with you while planning and documenting the day of our lives. With love, Andrew & Kristie
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Slow growth equals strong roots. Be patient. Be consistent
What is your favorite book?
I love Persuasion by Jane Austen and Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston and The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton
What is your secret weapon?
My strategic plan. I create one at the start of every year to set annual goals and quarterly strategic action steps to reach those goals. It keeps me on track and focused on making decisions for my business that will best serve me throughout the year. And in terms of day-to-day, Instagram and Hootsuite are essential for me!
How do you enjoy your free time?
I love being outside hiking or running or strolling in the arboretum. I love reading and I love exploring the city or traveling to new places with my hubby.
What is something that not many people know about you?
I keep a gratitude journal. I write in it at the end of each day and it has helped me sleep better and more importantly, remember how blessed I am, even on the hard days when being a business owner is so tough and stressful.
