What is your name and occupation?
Liz Theresa, Coach, Copywriter, & Web Designer
What is your instagram handle?
@LizTheresa
How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?
2+ years
Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
Yes! I grew up in Norwell, Massachusetts and lived here most of my life.
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
At LizTheresa.com, I help entrepreneurs find clarity and uniquely market themselves with confidence through strategic website design and copywriting services. I want every entrepreneur to rise and be the star of their own business. I'm also the creator of Concept to Creation™, my flagship branding and web design program. What led me here? It's a twisty-turn-y journey. I studied English and Theatre Arts at Stonehill, and then pursued my Master of Art in English at Bridgewater State University. My ambitions at that time were just to better myself - I had no professional dreams to speak of. And then, about halfway through my first year of grad school, one of the administrators of the university wanted me to help him use video with his students. I was adept at film, performance, and editing, so I figured why not help out? Once we met, he told me I wasn't branded well online. I had NO idea what he met. ``Branded?`` I asked. He said, ``Yes - you don't market yourself well on Twitter. But I'm going to help you.`` And he did. He turned out to also own a small digital marketing consultancy and taught me all sorts of things about online marketing. Marketing went from being something I thought people who sold Avon did to being something I knew I could help *other* people do better. I did what any English major would do - I read every book ever on the subject and then, got the nerve to start helping local businesses. LizTheresa.com really catapulted itself from there.
What would your clients say about you and your company?
I have a slew of videos from my clients on my praise page here (liztheresa.com/praise) --- they've used a lot of words about working with me and my team. Among my favorite words of praise I've heard, people tell me that I know how to do everything and they love my willingness to try new things. I've been told my energy is magnetic by another client - and many others appreciate that I make them laugh. I love making people laugh - and being funny comes naturally to me. I'm humble too. 😉
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
``You don't need permission to help people market themselves better. Just do it.`` - My mom gave me this advice when I wasn't able to get a job in marketing during the economic crisis of 2011. That's when I was like, ``FINE - I guess I'll just start a business.``
What is your favorite book?
Wuthering Heights
What is your secret weapon? An app, a tool, a organization method, anything?! (Can be a personal or professional life tool)
Meditation. I get up early and meditate every day - 10 minutes a day and it improves my mental health, clarity, and increases productivity. I highly recommend the Calm app.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
The stuff you're upset about right now will not matter someday. Try to enjoy the present moment. And don't marry the wrong person. (I probably could have used that last bit of advice the most... LOL!)
How do you enjoy your free time?
I love drawing! I actually recently started a webcomic called, Lizzie. I share it on my Instagram stories every Friday for the Friday Funnies. (I made up the Friday Funnies so people would just remember to check my Insta on Fridays!) Also, I love hanging with my husband, playing video games (embarrassing, but true), and watching the Sox.
What is something that not many people know about you?
I used to wanna be an actor - more specifically, I wanted to get a job on Days of Our Lives. I figured soap acting was one of the most regular ways to make money as an actor - AND I used to love watching Days. I also used to be a painter.
