How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?
Less than a year.
Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
I grew up in Manchester, NH, so not too far away. I went to Tufts for undergrad and loved Boston! Now I live in Newton with my husband and our cat and puppy.
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
La Fille Colette is a clothing line of easy to wear dresses that take you from day to night. We make everything locally and ethically in Massachusetts. I've wanted to design dresses from a very young age. A few years ago, I decided to take the leap and start my own company. It's been so rewarding being my own boss but definitely comes with its challenges!
What would your clients say about you and your company?
They'd thank us for making their new favorite dress, one they always feed good in, no matter the occasion!
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Be nice to everyone. It's a small industry.
What’s your favorite book?
Oh gosh, too many. I did grow up reading Harry Potter, though, and nothing can quite replace that series' place in my heart!
What’s your secret weapon?
I'm a huge fan of paper planners. I write down everything and make so many lists. This year I'm trying out Golden Coil which is a company that makes planners with customizable layouts. Everything that's not in my planner is on Google Drive, my other favorite thing.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Make it happen.
What is something that not many people know about you?
I'm a painter. I love working in oils and creating art that is personal and makes me happy.
