BBW Member interview with: Kim Miles, Founder, CEO and Overall Female Empowerment Enthusiast

What is your name and occupation?
Kim Miles, Founder, CEO and Overall Female Empowerment Enthusiast
What is your instagram handle?
@kimmilesinheels
How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?
2+ years
Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?
YES! After a 10 year stint in Manhattan, I came back to my hometown of Winchester, MA.
Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?
I have been a financial advisor for the past 16 years (still am!) and being in a male dominated industry, I was always seeking out other strong, successful, like-minded women with whom to connect. All of the events I attended weren't scratching my itch from that perspective, so I started a women's networking group through my local chamber of commerce. That morphed into a huge event that I produced and emceed for a total of 10 years which turned into the chamber's largest fundraiser. (Each year, it sold out at 700 seats in less than 5 minutes.) After having done that on a completely volunteer basis for one organization, about 4 years ago I decided to put my own brand out there, monetize my work and share my talents with the rest of the world. And I haven't looked back since!
What would your clients say about you and your company?
Undoubtedly, my passion for working with other women who are looking to forge their own path is at the heart of what I do each day through my production company. Whether I'm hired by one of my larger clients to help them produce and brand a new event to engage their audience or I'm working with an individual client to help them find their inner Mojo, I thrive on connecting and building up other women to be the best version of themselves. My secret sauce? My sense of humor. Any client would tell you that my magic potion is my ability to deliver critical content to audiences in a fresh, out-of-the-box, entertaining way. Think of it this way: if Oprah and Ellen had a love-child, it would be me.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
You don't have to get it perfect. You just have to get it going.
What’s your favorite book?
A Tie: #Girlboss and The Light Between Oceans
What’s your secret weapon?
Again, my sense of humor. My motto is that we should all laugh while we are learning. It makes it stick.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Relax. You will end up exactly where you are supposed to be doing exactly what you were born to do.
What is something that not many people know about you?
I sing in a band. I've been a singer my whole life but my current band is everything to me. (It's a great excuse to wear leather pants.)
