BBW Member interview with: Chris Vasiliadis, National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach

What is your name and occupation?

Chris Vasiliadis, National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach

How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?

Less than a year.

Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?

Born in Boston, raised in the suburbs.

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?

I transitioned into this career and my company almost 3 years after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. That event caused a number of lifestyle changes for me, and made health & wellness more important to me personally, which led me to work in this field. After learning about health & wellness coaching, I got initially trained and certified through Wellcoaches in '08, then started my company, Priority Wellness. I later attained National Board Certification in '17 (part of the first group of ~1100 Health & Wellness Coaches nationwide who obtained this certification when it became available). I find it so rewarding to enable people who are struggling or unhappy with their wellness to take control of their well-being. It's ultimately about helping people becoming engaged, resilient and energized to perform at their best. One of my former careers was in performance improvement in the workplace, so also I bring that slant to my work today. Besides working 1:1 with clients over the phone, I also deliver programs on topics such as energy management, stress management, and mindfulness and presence.

What would your clients say about you and your company?

In general, my clients have fun in a nonjudgmental setting, yet they know I'll challenge them to dig deeper to further grow and move forward. I'm thorough, an active listener, professional and excellent at follow-through. You can review more testimonials on my website here http://prioritywellness.com/praise/ and here http://prioritywellness.com/speaking/

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Avoid treating each moment as a means to an end. It's all about the journey. (Eckhart Tolle)

What’s your favorite book?

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

What’s your secret weapon?

Meditation (currently using the Insight Timer app).

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Follow what pulls you vs. trying to please everyone else.

What is something that not many people know about you?

My first job out of college was a systems engineer, working in computer security for the government (my bachelor's degree is in Computer Science).
