BBW Member interview with: Ashley Mason, Social Media Consultant at Dash of Social

What is your name and occupation?

Ashley Mason, Social Media Consultant at Dash of Social

What is your instagram handle?

@dashofsocial

How long have you been a Boston Business Women’s Member?

Less than a year

Were you born and raised in Boston? If not, what brought you here?

Yes!

Tell us more about your job or company and what led you to your career?

I work with women entrepreneurs to create and execute social media strategies that attract their dream clients, establish brand awareness, and grow a loyal and engaged following.

I dabbled into social media after having a fashion and lifestyle blog, which I grew through social media. As my blog started to grow, I had the opportunity to work with multiple companies on sponsored content, which made me realize many of those companies had barely a social media presence or no presence at all. After knowing that I was able to successfully use social media for myself, I wanted to do the same for these companies -- so I did some pro bono work to build my portfolio. Three years later, and here Dash of Social is!

What would your clients say about you and your company?

My clients love that I'm always so quick to respond and help out whenever I can. They're impressed by my knowledge of social media and the strategies that I provide them so they can also receive incredible results for their business!

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

If taking on a specific project, client, etc., doesn't feel right to you, DON'T do it! As women, when we have a gut feeling, we're usually right. Take the time to listen to it because the projects that you were hesitant about in the first place end up turning into headaches.

What’s your favorite book?

You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero

What’s your secret weapon?

Trello! It is the easiest way to keep track of my content, to-do list, goals, and more.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Things aren't always going to be perfect! And if your entrepreneurship journey is EASY, you're not growing, learning, or improving. All good things come from difficult situations, and the tough parts of entrepreneurship is what makes us grow.

What is something that not many people know about you?

I started my business at the age of 19 and I'm currently still in college! Many people assume I'm in my mid-to-late 20s, but I'm only 21 -- with plans to go full-time when I graduate in 2019.
