5 Ways to Practice Gratitude

NOTICE – the beauty in life.  Take a moment each day to appreciate the little things like, nature, your friendships, your family, the sun, the rain, the smile in the mirror.  Include an act of kindness in your life each day.

EMBRACE – your imperfections and challenges and turn them into opportunities to grow.  See the growth you can gain from your mistakes. See the beauty in being unique.

PRACTICE – Look in the mirror and say, “I appreciate you,” or, “I’m thankful for you” and focus on your strengths each day.  Turn everything into a gift. Instead of your normal morning coffee, think of that cup as the gift of coffee. The gift of laughter. The gift of a smile. Thank your friends and family members and the people who serve you in the community. The police officer, the bus driver, etc…

There is always something to be grateful for. Focus on that and let the rest go.

SHARE – your gratitude for your family, friends or coworkers with a call, text, email or a positive post on social media.  Take note when someone does a good job and give recognition when it’s due at work.  Reward their efforts, if someone does something nice for you, do something nice for them.

FOCUS – on something you’re looking forward to and be grateful. Keeping a Gratitude journal and adding one thing you’re grateful for everyday can help you bring
